Anita’s Books

Illustrated Booklist    Japanese Art Books    Bound Journals      Magazine List

Anita is a former librarian and has collected old books since she first visited Brattle Books in Boston during the late 60’s. Her more recent involvement with collage art has expanded her appreciation of steel engravings and chromolithography.

The focus of the Illustrated Booklist is on illustrated books from the period 1860 to 1910, predominantly, in the following subject areas: Art & Design; Books About Books and Printing; Early Geological Surveys of North America; Exploration of Ocean, Polar, and Tropical Regions; Expositions and World’s Fairs; Oddities and Scientific Marvels; Races and Nations of Mankind; White Mountains and New Hampshire History.

Links in the Illustrated Booklist allow you to view a selection of illustrations culled from the Internet Archive and posted to Anita’s tumblr site. You are also invited to examine individual titles in person. Call Anita at 603-522-6529 prior to your visit (please give 24 hour’s notice) and she will set aside items for you from our list.

The art and book gallery located in a room off the bead shop contains a separate (unlisted) browsing collection of more recent books marked at discounted prices. New titles are added weekly. In addition, the gallery houses our Magazine collection which is also listed on this site.
